6th edition of the Global Community Health Workshop – register now!
On 9th, 10th, and 11th June 2026, the 6th edition of the Global Community Health Workshop will take place.
The health of planet Earth is inextricably linked to human health and well-being. Climate change primarily affects the most vulnerable communities. It exacerbates inequalities and threatens both human and environmental health. These challenges are also opportunities to act collectively at the local level, innovate, and promote climate justice.
The theme of the 2026 edition,Connecting planetary health, climate justice, and community health: from knowledge to action, explores the links between planetary health, community health, and well-being. We will focus on the mobilisation of communities in the face of climate challenges, paying particular attention to the engagement of young people as change agents, the consideration of indigenous perspectives, and the issues of climate justice.
Concrete examples will be presented to illustrate how to integrate these ideas into concrete professional practices, whether one is a practitioner, researcher, decision-maker, or engaged actor. By articulating knowledge and action, we aim to inspire collective strategies that address the root causes of environmental crises while fostering healthier and more resilient communities.
Who can participate?
Professionals, policymakers, researchers, students from different backgrounds: anyone wishing to expand their knowledge and skills in community health will be welcome. In 2025, over 500 people from all regions of the world participated in the workshop.
Workshop format
The global workshop will take place over 3 consecutive days, lasting 3 and a half hours each day. To allow participation from different time zones, the workshop will be offered twice a day.
Session 1 will take place from 10:00 to 13:30 in Paris, from 16:00 to 19:30 in Beijing, and from 18:00 to 21:30 in Melbourne.
Session 2 will take place from 16:00 to 19:30 in Paris, from 07:00 to 10:30 in Los Angeles, and from 11:00 to 14:30 in Buenos Aires.
The workshop is designed in an interactive format to ensure theactive participationof participants, through a series ofonline lectures, combined withdiscussions in smaller groups, the"community health hubs."
Community health hubs
Community health hubs are discussion groups offered in several languages, including English, French, and Spanish (other languages may be offered depending on demand and the availability of facilitators). The hubs allow participants to share their experiences, develop their regional and international networks, and work on their personal contributions.
We encourage participants to meet locally and organise their own community health groups (hubs). They can follow the online plenary sessions together and then continue their discussions in person within their local groups.
Personal contribution
Participants can submit an individual piece of work based on the key lessons learned from the workshop. Each piece will be reviewed and published on the Chair's website, to serve as a reference resource for the community. At the end of the workshop, a certificate is issued by the UNESCO Chair to participants who have attended for the full 3 days (plenary sessions and group sessions), after validation of their personal work.
Languages
The online conferences are conducted in English, French, or Spanish. Translation into more than 50 languages (including English, French, Spanish, Persian, Arabic, and Chinese) will be provided through an application based on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
